My first crime novel experience

I first got acquainted with the genre when I was about ten or eleven and read Astrid Lindgren´s "Kalle Blomkvist - Master Detective". This was the only children´s book available in the crime genre in post-Soviet Estonia at that time. I remember really wanting to be like Eva-Lotta, the fearless girl in the boys´ world.

I quickly moved on to Agatha Christie from that. When I was celebrating my 12th birthday, I remember the series "Hercule Poirot" starring David Suchet was first shown on the local national TV channel ETV for the first time. After that, I was sold on both crime shows and novels and have been watching crime shows and reading crime novels to this day.

I made it my mission to read through each and every one of Agatha Christie´s novels that I was able to get my hands on in Estonian libraries. I succeeded in reading 40 of her books by the age of 20.
